Spotify, one of the most user friendly and popular music streaming sites on the market, is often an overlooked marketing tool for bands and musicians at large. With their 70 MILLION users, Spotify can be a quick, easy, and efficient method to get heard and shared by music lovers globally. With their close relation and ties to ample social media platforms, Spotify makes it "click of a button" easy for listeners to share loved tracks with their followers on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. 

So, how do you employ this streaming platform to achieve music related stardom? 

Playlists, Playlists, Playlists

Compile playlists with music from well-known artists with similar sounds and style to YOU. Doing this will allow your desired listeners to locate your music easily and effortlessly while doing exactly what they would be doing initially.  

Utilizing playlists allows ease and doesn't require your listener to alter any of their pre-established habits to find your music. 

However, don't over do it! Slide one or two of your unique tracks, or even a cover onto the playlist, but listeners don't want to feel that they're being sold something while leisurely listening to their favorite tunes. 

Keeping in mind that each Playlist publicly published on Spotify has the potential to reach thousands of listeners. With that being said, making and publishing playlists may not seem like a traditional marketing tool, but the potential outreach achieved by adding your music to a public playlist can be a very advantageous marketing strategy. 

Collaborate! 

Collaborating with similar artists with a larger following, not only from a playlist standpoint, can add your band to the "Similar Artists"  component page of Spotify that is a feature of the Artist's profile page. Whether it be collaborating on music or targeting a distinct sound/ image that can boost your following, your visibility on the platform will directly increase.
